Tools are various items the player can get to obtain materials and resources they cannot pick up such as roots, fish, and ore in Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. All tools are given to the player by the Bears on the island.
Most tools do not have to be held in hand in order to be used, but they have to be in the player's backpack.
Durability[]
Most tools can only be used a limited number of times before it breaks. That number is represented by a tool's durability value; the more advanced the tool is, the more durable it is.
Each time a tool is used, its durability value is reduced. The number of durability points spent per use depends on a tool and the level of the object the tool is used on. The natural objects on the island come in three levels: basic, pro, or master; most of these objects look different based on their level (with the exception of spirit wells).
Spirit wells of different levels are not visually different; however, only one spirit well of each level spawns on the island every game day for a total of three. If the player finds and harvests all spirit wells in a given day, the durability of their divining rod will be reduced by ten points. (Note that it is only possible to find all three spirit wells with a master divining rod.)

---|---|---|---|---|

Shovel | dirt mounds | 1 | 3 | 6 |
Pickaxe | rocks | 1 | 3 | 6 |
Machete | Shrubberies | 1 | 3 | 6 |

The tool breaks when its durability reaches zero. Each time a tool breaks, it releases some spirit imp essence. The amount of essence obtained from breaking a tool depends on its level.
Broken tools cannot be used until they are repaired at the Recycle Machine located on the Camp Spirit beach. The repair cost varies depending on the tool and its level.

The fishing rod, critter net, and hose reel have infinite durability and will never break. Though the hose reel does not physically break, its water charge will deplete during use, and gradually fills back up when it is not. The durability of the spirit camera depletes by one each time it is used, even if the player immediately deletes the photo they have taken. The accordion's durability also depletes by one each time it is used, but only if there are harvestable fruit trees, bushes, or flower plants in its area of effect.
Multi-level tools[]
Shovel[]
Shovels are used to dig things up from dirt mounds, such as roots, nuts, onions and old coins. The wooden shovel is first introduced to the player by Orsina during Part 2 of the first story quest line, Orientation.
Shovels do not have to be held in hand to be used, but they have to be in the player's backpack and not in storage. Upgrading the shovel increases its durability and allows the player to dig more types of dirt mounds to receive better rewards.
The shovel's durability is reduced by one when the player digs out a basic dirt mound, by three for a pro dirt mound, and by six for a master dirt mound.

Pickaxe[]
Pickaxes are used to mine rocks for ore, coins and salt. Pickaxes do not have to be held in hand to be used, but they have to be in the player's backpack and not in storage. The player is first introduced to the wooden pickaxe by Kyli during Part 4 of the second story quest line, Fixer Upper.
Upgrading the pickaxe allows the player to obtain more resources per mined rock, different types of ores, larger ores that give more ingots and mine larger rocks. More rocks can be accessed by the player over time and as the island expands.
The pickaxe's durability is reduced by one when the player mines a basic rock, by three for a pro rock, and by six for a master rock.

Machetes do not have to be held in hand to be used; however, they have to be in the player's backpack and not in storage to be used. The player is first introduced to the wooden pickaxe by Medvarius in Part 3 of the first story quest line, Onboarding.
Upgrading the machete will allow the player to chop different types of shrubberies for mixed greens, fancy greens and deluxe greens.
The machete's durability is reduced by one when the player cuts a basic shrubbery, by three for a pro shrubbery, and by six for a master shrubbery.

Divining Rod[]
Divining rods (sometimes called dowsing rods) are used to find spirit wells and extract relics.
When the player holds the divining rod in their hand, they can occasionally see a little icon on top of the rod, which lets them know whether there is a relic nearby. The divining rod will lead the player to the relic by playing "hot or cold", with the flame becoming bigger when the player is near, and turning into a snowflake when they're going the wrong way. When the icon looks like a big burning flame, the spot where the relic is buried will appear. The player can then use the rod above the mark to get the relic out.
The minigame symbols are as follows:
Players can upgrade the divining rod to use it multiple times each day on Camp Spirit and get rarer items. The wooden divining rod can be used once a day, the metal rod twice a day, and the master rod thrice a day. Rods of all levels can be used once a day in the Old Grounds.
Divining rods do not have to be held in hand to be used and will vibrate in the player's backpack if there are relics to find. However, the "hot or cold" minigame cannot be played unless the rod is held in hand.

Single-level tools[]
Water hose[]
The power washer is a new tool introduced in Camp Spirit, which is used to clean structures around the island. The basic water hose, which appears in the form of a blue pufferfish, is the first tool the player is introduced to in the game, given by Kyli during Part 2 of the first story quest line, Craftworks.
There a limited water charge which depletes during use, indicated by a blue bar above the player's head, and it will gradually refill when not being sprayed. Bubbles may appear while power washing dirty structures, spraying them with the water will make them pop and immediately clean the area around where they were.
Upon starting a new day, random structures and/or trees around the island have a chance of becoming dirty, evident by becoming black in color and a nearby crying imp with a power washer bubble. After successfully power washing, the satisfied imp will provide the player with a reward. Certain story quests also task the player with power washing certain structures.
If the power washer is used to spray any of the bears, Mr. Kit, Flamey, or Tallow, each have their own unique animation of being irritated at the player for doing so. Imps and cats will also run away from the water if sprayed. These effects are only visual however, and do not carry any gameplay penalty.
Fishing rod[]

Kyli will give the player a fishing rod during part 4 of their third story quest line, Escape Plans. After which the player gets to keep the rod and can use it to fish for fish, essence, recipes and, on occasion, branches and shells. The fishing rod has infinite durability (never breaks) and does not need to be upgraded to access new resources.
Critter net[]

The critter net is given to the player by Orsina upon starting the second story quest line, Cave Buddies. After completing the quest, the player will get to keep the net, which can be used to catch seasonal critters. Similar to the fishing rod, the critter net has infinite durability (never breaks) and does not need to be upgraded to access new resources.
Spirit camera[]

The spirit camera is a tool used to take photos, which is given to the player by Orsina upon starting the third story quest line, Treasure Trove. Once acquired, the spirit camera can be placed in the active slot of the player's backpack to take photos with the throw button. Once a photo is taken, the player is given a list of all the elements contained within, and the option to save or delete it. Saved photos can be viewed by using the spirit camera in the inventory.
The camera can be used 24 times before its durability is depleted, and will need to be repaired with camera film before it can be used again. The film can be purchased from Mr. Kit for 4,000 old coins and subsequently used at the recycling machine to repair the camera.
Accordion[]
The Accordion is a tool used to harvest multiple fruit trees, nut trees, berry bushes, and potted/bush flower plants at the same time. The Accordion can be purchased at Kit's Canteen for 175,000 once the player _.
Treasure map[]
The treasure map is a single-use tool used to find special spirit wells containing treasure. The treasure map can be obtained by crafting it at the crafter using 8 piece of treasure map.
Seasonal Tools[]
Spooky Critter Scroll[]
Tool Finder[]
If the player has trouble locating their tools, they can use the Hint Dispenser located immediately northwest of the player's tent area, which will give a list of all currently available tools and where each one is located. The Hint Dispenser, which looks like a gumball vending machine, can also give players the location of one hidden quest item for a small fee.
