Stone Skipping is an activity that allows the player to toss stones at the clams offshore to get materials in Cozy Grove.
Mechanics[]
To start skipping, the player first needs to obtain some skipping stones. The stones can be mined from rocks using a pickaxe. Five normal skipping stones can be purchased daily at Kit's Canteen.
After obtaining the stones, the player needs to put them in the active slot of their backpack, approach the water and aim and throw the stone with the throw button. The stone will bounce off the water several times. If the stone hits a clam, the clam closes and disappears, rewarding the player with some quartz gemstones, softwood, hardwood, or rarely a rare pearl or a fragment of Angler's Lament. The more skips the stone manages to make before hitting the clam, the better the reward is.
If the player throws another stone immediately after throwing a stone, the direction and strength of the previous throw are shown alongside the new ones to help the player aim. That aim assist disappears if the player moves their avatar.
Types of Stones[]
There are three types of skipping stones in the game: normal, pro, and elite. The better the stone is, the more skips it lands before sinking.
The stones can be obtained by mining rocks with a pickaxe or crafted. Normal skipping stones can also be purchased at Kit's Canteen daily.

Clams[]
A number of clams spawn offshore of Cozy Grove each day. The clams disappear and give a reward once a skipping stone hits them and do not respawn until a new game day starts (or the player resets the island by leveling up Flamey and unlocking a new bear).
Clams can give old coins or quartz gemstones, hardwood, softwood, a rare pearl, a fragment of Angler's Lament, or very rarely a piece of clothing.
Rewards[]
The rewards received depend on the type of clam and the number of skips the player lands with their stone before the stone hits the clam. The type of stone the player throws does not matter.
Rare pearl, fragment of Angler's Lament, or clothing can be occasionally received in addition for these drops.
Some clams can also contain an item for daily or story quests.
