Pets are spirit animals (birds, deer, lagomorphs, and cats) in Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. The player can buy them at Furs, Floofs, and Feathers or receive them as gifts. When fed, pets give spirit essence and food (eggs for birds, onions for deer, and cocoa beans for lagomorphs).

Types of Pets[]

Outdoor Pets[]

Three species of outdoor pets exist in Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit: birds that produce spirit bird essence and eggs, deer that produce spirit deer essence and onions, and lagomorphs that produce spirit lagomorph essence and cocoa beans. Each of these species exist in ten different colors and may have different appearance that determines an animal's likes and dislikes.

Outdoor pets can only be placed outside on the island. Each outdoor pet has a happiness meter of three hearts that can be filled by placing the pet near the items it likes.

Indoor Pets[]

Young Moon Cat

Cats are animals the player can only place inside their tent. Cats can be fed to produce hairballs. Unlike the outdoor pets, cats cannot be purchased and need to be lured by placing three foods into the cat beckoner located inside the player's tent. A cat's rarity and appearance are based on the combination of foods used to obtain it.

Unlike outdoor pets, cats have a happiness meter of nine hearts. All cats like at least one type of decor. A cat's likes depend on its rarity: a common cat has only one like, an uncommon cat two, a rare cat three, and so on. Every cat dislikes other cats and one type of decor.

See Cat (Camp Spirit) for more details and recipes.

Age[]

Pets have a three tier age progression: young (or basic), adult (or pro), and mature (or master). A young pet evolves into an adult after 5 feedings, and an adult to mature after 10 more feedings.

Obtaining Pets[]

Outdoor pets can be purchased at one shop: Furs, Floofs, and Feathers, that has up to 8 random spirit animals for sale every day. The animals purchased at Furs, Floofs, and Feathers appear in the player's Backpack immediately.

Pets can also be rarely obtained as rewards for some story quests, as a collection reward, and as a reward for quests.

Prices[]

The purchase and sell prices of animals depends on their age, with young animals being the cheapest and mature animals being the most expensive.

Animals can be sold to any store that buys items from the player.

Animal care[]

Once the player places their animal from the backpack menu, they can interact with the animal to pet it, pick it up to put it back in the backpack, or, if the animal is hungry, feed it.

If the player pets an animal, that animal will receive half a heart happiness bonus for the rest of the game day. Animals can be petted multiple times per day, but the bonus is applied only once per day.

Half of each species placed can become hungry each day, up to a max of five hungry with ten placed. Hungry pets have a food they want to eat in a bubble above their head. To feed a pet, the player can either throw the pet an item it wants or interact with the pet to get the option to feed it. The feed option only appears if the player has the requested food in their backpack or tent storage. Once the pet has eaten, it will drop its products.

A pet cannot get hungry if it is in the player's backpack or storage. An individual pet cannot become hungry again if fed within the last twelve hours, even if a new campaign day has started during that time. The player is also required to have ten eligible pets of a species placed (bird/deer/lagomorph/cat) in order to hit the max value of five becoming hungry. The game tries to pick at least one pet from each species and rarity combination and prioritizes the pet within each combination that has been fed the most often.[1] Pets never ask for food if the player does not know how to cook yet.

A pet will continue to request the same food for about two days before losing its appetite. The pet will become hungry again over time, possibly for the same or a different dish.

It is not possible to feed a non-hungry pet.

There are three levels of pet maturity: Young, Adult, and Mature. Currently an individual Young pet will become an Adult after you feed it 5 times, and an individual Adult will become a Mature animal after you feed it 10 times. (I.e., it takes 15 feedings to turn a brand new Young animal into a Mature animal.)

Pet Names[]

After the player pets or harvests their animal for the first time, the popup menu appears that allows the player to name their animal. The player is offered a choice of four pre-generated randomly selected names. They can choose one of the names, generate four new names, or close the popup without naming the animal. The player cannot set a custom name for their animal, there are a total of 188 preset pet names for the player to choose from instead.

Once the player names the animal, the name is saved and cannot be changed. If the player closes the menu without choosing a name for their animal, the list of names will appear again the next time the player pets or harvests the animal.

Happiness, likes and dislikes[]

Each animal has a specific set of likes and dislikes. Surrounding a pet with the appropriate liked items will increase the heart level of that pet. Higher rarity items have a higher impact on pet happiness. Outdoor pets' happiness will be affected by items within 12 grid squares of the pet, however cats' happiness will be affected by anything within the same room as the cat.

Petting an animal temporarily increases the animal's heart level by half a heart. The higher the pet's heart level, the more spirit essence it will drop when fed.

Each type of outdoor pet has some specific likes they all share, but their preferred decor and dislikes vary based on their appearance. The likes and dislikes of cats are based on their rarity and not their type; however, all cats dislike other cats.

Note that all outdoor animals like lamps regardless of their type and appearance.

Likes by Appearance[]

Deer and birds vary in appearance: have different markings, including speckles, stripes, dots, and lines, different head, ear, horn, body, and tail shapes. The animal's appearance is not purely cosmetic: the head determines one of the animal's likes, while the animal's body and tail shape and markings determine its dislike.
