Not to brag, but I'm pretty handy.
Jeremy Gruffle
Jeremy Gruffle is the second bear the player meets after arriving on Cozy Grove Island. His nickname for the player is "Maker Buddy," and they can go to him for help with crafting various items such as tools and decorations. Jeremy can also help refine some materials, including wood and gemstones. He is a Forest Spirit, referred to as the Maker Bear.
Jeremy's area is located to the west of the player's main campsite, between Charlotte's to the north and the Captain's to the south.
Appearance[]
Jeremy looks like a yellow and brown pocket tape measure, with one end of the measuring tape sticking out behind his right ear. Jeremy wears safety goggles.
The following landmarks are located in Jeremy's area: the workshop, supply shelves, a photobooth standee, several tarps, a workbench, a blacksmith forge, and folding chairs.
Biography[]
Jeremy initially helps the player in the hopes that making tools will help him to move on from being a ghost. When that doesn't work, Jeremy speculates that he may have created something terrible in life, and that his ghostly existence may be a punishment. Jeremy sometimes asks for the player's help finding items he made in life, so he can destroy them. He seems to have been especially fond of making birdhouses, but he also talks about his time making sheds, gazebos, and giant grizzly statues.
Jeremy had a son, whose paw print is imprinted on one of the many metal hearts that Jeremy asks the player to collect.
Specialty[]
Jeremy's specialty is the crafting mechanic that is unlocked after the player completes Jeremy's second story quest. Jeremy can craft a number of items, including gems, widely used materials, quest items, and decorations. Crafting recipes can be obtained by fishing or completing daily quests.
Any items crafted at Jeremy's crafting bench appear in the player's backpack instantly.
List of quests[]
Every day, Jeremy Gruffle has a chance to give the player a quest, provided he has no quest active. The quest can be started by speaking to Jeremy Gruffle.
If Jeremy Gruffle is ghostly blue and his area is not colored, he will give the player a story quest. If Jeremy Gruffle is colored but his area is not, he will give the player a daily quest. If both Jeremy Gruffle and his area are colored, he will not give any quests, but the player can still converse with him to listen to some gossip or occasionally advance his story.
Story quests are untimed and advance Jeremy Gruffle's story, allowing the player to learn more about him, fill his heart meter, and restore his memories. Some story quests require the player to collect a lot of resources or help other bears to get quest items. The story quests often give spirit logs as rewards.
Non-story quests have a time limit, do not provide any story development, and give random rewards. There are no penalties for letting a timed quest expire.
Some quests require the player to find items hidden on the island. The hidden objects spawn after the player accepts the quest, with hints on their location provided in the quest menu. If the player has trouble locating the item, they can get a hint from Charlotte Pine for 100.

Chat[]
Every day, when Jeremy Gruffle has no quest active, the player can chat with him for some random gossip. Jeremy Gruffle can give the player advice or tell a little about himself or other bears.
Chatting with Jeremy Gruffle does not advance his story.
After the player chats with Jeremy Gruffle once, they can ask him for a hug.
You have those wonderfully soft, precise, fleshy appendages.
Working a lathe with a claw can be... challenging. But I make do.
You come up with material. Then you have to workshop it.
And if you did it right, you nailed it!
Seems like I can never quite get that last part down, though. Sigh. Why do I even try?
You know the other day I heard two carpenters in that age old debate: Phillips or flathead.
Me? Well, I hate to make someone else on a project use a screwdriver that they don't like.
It's like I can feel their displeasure with every twist of the screw.
So I'm happy to use either.
I found a copy of Philogelos, a jokebook from 4th Century Greece! Let's see what classics we can unearth.
A coward is asked which are safer, warships or merchant-ships. 'Dry-docked ships,' he answers.
Huh.
Well, maybe that's a good one for Captain Snout?
Let's see what we can learn from the old masters...
A drunk opens a bar, and stations a chained bear outside.
Hm.
That was terrible. I'm sorry, Maker Buddy. I'm just wasting your time at this point.
And boom! I bump right into a mailbox.
I said, 'Sorry, my mistake,' and kept moving along.
You know, it wasn't until later that evening that I even realized I apologized to a mailbox?
Eventually I just learned to tell them I was Canadian.
Works every time.
It was said to me back then that the blade is unforgiving, and needs to be respected.
I know it was just workshop safety advice. But I really took it to heart.
Don't ask me how it works. All I know is if I hammer this softwood long enough, it turns into hardwood. The miracle of carpentry!
Even if the final product is small, it's filled with all the hard work and care you put into it.
That satisfaction is its own reward, don't you think?
Darn it, I did it again, didn't I? Sorry about that!
Daily quest lines[]
Box of nails[]
Start:
'When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.'
Well, I have a hammer, and nothing around here looks even remotely nail-like!
What sort of Maker can I be without nails?
That's just Carpentry 101! Never understood why they have a whole saying about it.
Nobody wants to be the nail that stands out, right...?
Erm, what was I saying? Oh yeah! Can you pick up some nails for me?
End:
<Examines a nail thoughtfully>
You know, if everything looked like this, the world would be way too pointy!
Thanks, Maker Buddy! I can't wait to set my hammer to these!
Materials[]
Start:
I'm sorry to bother you again.
But all these newly-woken ghosts have been contracting me for renovations...
I'm running out of supplies! Could you bring me a few?
Sorry to impose on you again, but could you help me stock up on some crafting essentials?
Sorry to bother you, but could you please scrounge up some supplies for me?
End:
Sorry for the trouble, Maker Buddy. I hope this makes it worth your while!
These should keep me going for a while. Thanks a lot!
Package[]
Start:
Could the package have gotten lost?
I know Patrice tries his best, but there are some delicate materials in that package!
End:
I'm so sorry to have bothered you, but I really appreciate your help!
I feel awful imposing on you like this again. I hope this makes up for it!
Picnic lunch[]
Start:
Today I'm looking to make something different. A picnic lunch!
Could you bring me some ingredients?
A growing Scout like you must have a big appetite.
If you bring me a few things, I'll whip up a great picnic lunch for you!
End:
Preparing food is a lot like crafting -- it takes patience and care!
Here you go... a fresh picnic basket, for you.
A little precision work, a few measurements and...
Tada! A picnic basket! Eat up, Maker Buddy!
Whetstone[]
Start:
Could I trouble you to help me look for it?
End:
Mementos[]

Jeremy Gruffle, the Maker Bear, is pretty handy with crafting. He seems unusually apologetic for some reason, though...
Jeremy is eager to help you in any way he can. But who in the world gives a child a machete?!
Jeremy wants to collect his past projects -- adorned with his signature metal hearts -- and destroy them in an act of penance.
He discovers a cuckoo clock that isn't his own -- it's the work of his friend Harold, a fellow craftsman.
A tiny paw-print on one of Jeremy's metal hearts provokes a sudden memory: he used to have a son, a family.
Jeremy recalls his family and their old house. His son so loved his creations that Jeremy built him a special cuckoo clock.
In a fit of anxiety, Jeremy smashed the cute cuckoo clock he'd made for his son, breaking his son's little heart.
Jeremy realizes that his bond with his neighbor Harold went much deeper than friendship. Finally able to accept that his son and others loved him, Jeremy decides to keep the clock the two made together.
Story quests expanded[]
Introduction[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
3 branch
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy introduces himself and asks the player to bring him three branches scattered on the island.
So sorry. I figured I'd be invisible.
More than I deserve. I'm sure.
It's unseemly.
Until I find out out why I'm stuck here, I'm afraid I'll be haunting us both.
Maybe I can make it up to you, Maker Buddy.
Not to brag, but I'm pretty handy as ghosts go.
Bring me 3 branches, ok? I promise, I'll make it worth your while.
After the player brings Jeremy the branches, he makes them a wooden shovel and gives them a spirit wood.
A twist here, a scoop there, and voila! Your first shovel.
Not my finest work. My paws kept slipping through the lathe.
But if you want to dig up the soft dirt mounds around the island, that shovel will do the trick.
See, spirits? I've helped this poor scout! My haunting... is complete!
I'm still here, aren't I?
Darn it. Darn it.
One flimsy shovel isn't going to do it, is it? Of course not.
Well, don't worry, I'm full of ideas for tools.
I'll give you all the help you need to stay Cozy in our Grove.
Hope that shovel works out. Oh, and have a Spirit Log, too.

Jeremy apologizes to the player and asks them to bring him some materials so he can make something else.
I'm afraid apologizing's just in my nature.
Of course, it hasn't worked out. Maybe because the shovel I gave you... it's not my best work.
Let me show you what I mean.
First, though, I'm going to need some softwood, root vegetables, and wood branches.
After the player brings Jeremy the materials, instead of crafting something for the player he decides to give them access to his crafting bench.
And I bet you're wondering... what sort of tool is he going to make for me now?
Sorry! No tool this time.
Did you know folks used to come here from all over, just to learn how to build and fix things for themselves?
Maybe if I pass that skill on to you... I can pass on, myself?
My crafting bench is open to you anytime! Just stop by and let me know when you want to craft something.
Here, have some crafting recipes to get you started!
Just select one and learn recipe. Then you can bring the ingredients to me and get crafting!
I believe you already have enough wood to build yourself something interesting.
Jeremy gifts the player some hardwood, softwood, and two crafting recipes for decorations. He also gives the player another spirit wood.
After this quest is completed, the crafting menu can be accessed anytime by talking to Jeremy.
A new tool[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
1 softwood
|
5 branch
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to bring him more materials so he can craft something for them.
I've been thinking about you, stuck here on Cozy Grove.
You and I, we're sort of in the same pickle barrel, aren't we?
All I mean is...
Neither one of us quite knows what we're doing here, do we?
But I can help you dig a little deeper into this mystery.
With five branches and one piece of softwood, I think I can do just that.
After the player delivers the materials, Jeremy makes them a bone pickaxe.
That's great! I was worried I'd asked too much of you.
Here you go, your very first pickaxe!
It's a little flimsy. But it should let you dig right into the rock of the island.
And while digging, if you happen to find any answers...
...about why I'm doomed to haunt this place?
Well... I wouldn't mind knowing, is all.
One more tool[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
5 hardwood
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy wants to make the player another new tool and asks for the materials.
I was hoping that bench would help you on your quests.
Anytime you like, you can just talk to me to access the crafting bench.
So I'm going to leave you with one more tool.
It's a little advanced for a kid your age. It requires some metalworking.
Find me some iron ore and some hardwood, and I can get started.
After the player delivers the materials, Jeremy makes them a wooden machete.
...and now you have your very own machete!
Hmm. I hope it's ok giving you something so sharp, and half your size.
(It's not ok, is it?)
Well, too late now. Enjoy your new chopping powers!
I know you're a trained Scout, but PLEASE be careful with the sharp side, ok?
The last thing I need is another ghost on my conscience...
Completing this quest also unlocks Jeremy's second memento.
Melting iron[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to bring him some iron ingots.
It's like wearing a neon sign that says, Look at Jeremy Gruffle! He really messed up his life.
It makes me mad. Burning mad.
So mad that I could melt iron...
After the player delivers the ingots, Jeremy gives them a spirit wood.
Now we can make ingots!
It's just frustrating. I thought sharing those tools with you would clear my name and set me free.
I was such a careful Maker when I was alive.
But now I'm a ghost, so I must have left something unfinished.
What was it?
Dowsing rod[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
Reward:
|
2 common decoration
|
Jeremy decides to teach you to use a dowsing rod to search for lost memories. He needs the materials to craft it.
But I can't remember doing anything that would explain it.
And maybe not remembering is part of my problem - Tell me, have you ever used a Dowsing Rod?
You can't use a dowsing rod to find water, that's just superstition.
(Do they say that?)
I can make one for you. I'm sure it'll come in handy.
The player needs to deliver ten roasted root vegetables, ten charred fishbones, and three iron ingots to Jeremy to get the dowsing rod.
Now let me just conjure up a little bit of that supernatural DIY spirit...
And there we have it! One Dowsing Rod!
You'll need to equip it and use your intuition.
When it feels just right, you can mark the spot and dig.
And hey... maybe I can borrow it in your off-hours to start digging up some memories of my own?
I'll just build my own out of leftover scraps.
A metal heart[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
![]() 1 metal heart
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy remembers he used to mark things he built with a metal heart and asks the player to find one on the island.
And now I remember... I marked everything I ever built with a small metal heart.
So if you find any hearts, could you bring them to me?
After the player delivers the metal heart, Jeremy decides to melt it.
Every time I used this mark, it meant I poured my whole heart and soul into my work.
All right then! Time to melt these things back down to molten iron.
But I don't think I have a choice.
So best I can figure, I need to erase my past mistakes.
I must have made something terrible...
...something so tacky and gaudy that the spirits of Cozy Grove decided to curse me for it!
So I'm setting out on a new mission to undo my work.
Precisely. Methodically. One heart at a time.
Jeremy gives the player a spirit wood. Completing this mission also unlocks the second of Jeremy's mementos.
The first birdhouse[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
![]() 1 rough birdhouse
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to find another thing from his past.
I've been ambling down memory lane recently, and I remembered the first thing I ever built.
I was 11 years old. It was a birdhouse for finches. I named it... Rosebird.
I wonder, could it still be out there?
The birdhouse can be found hidden on the island. After the player finds the birdhouse and delivers it to Jeremy, Jeremy destroys it.
I was so proud of this little birdhouse, even with its crooked roof.
Yes sir, my lifelong love of building all started here.
If it takes destroying my precious projects to learn why I'm stuck as a ghost...
... this is the perfect place to start!
The player also receives another spirit wood from Jeremy.
A better dowsing rod[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
10 hardwood
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy is still trying to find his memories and feels a stronger dowsing rod will help. He asks the player to fetch the materials.
Not funny like a good joke, exactly. It's funny like one of my jokes. Kind of confusing, kind of sad.
I've forgotten so much... and that flimsy dowsing rod we made is only pulling up shallow, obvious memories.
I did a little research on dowse-craft. Turns out there's a way to fortify a dowsing rod to make it more effective.
Would you mind helping me find the ingredients for the job?
I know it's a pain, but I think a stronger dowsing rod could help us both.
The player needs to gather ten hardwood and eight relic ash and bring the materials to Jeremy along with their old wooden dowsing rod. Jeremy gives them a metal dowsing rod in exchange.
Fortifying a dowsing rod requires precision and patience. This might take me a while.
CLANG
Whoops! Never mind. It's all done.
With this, we can draw deeper memories out of the ground.
That should help you with your crafting... and help me get to the bottom of my ghostliness.
More birdhouses[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to find more of his works.
It set me on my path. I made dozens more over the years.
At first I gave them away. But soon people insisted on paying me.
I knew if I was going to take money, those birdhouses needed to be perfect!
I wonder... are any more of those birdhouses still out there?
Three beautiful birdhouses can be received from other bears as quest rewards. After the player delivers the birdhouses to Jeremy, he smashes them and gives the player a spirit wood and a scout book page for Charlotte.
They're just as wonderful as I remembered.
Look at those beveled edges. Perfect continuity.
This one even has little furniture inside! How did I make a working recliner at that scale?
Nothing to apologize for, with these. They're perfect.
SMASH!
Huh. I thought I'd feel a little sad destroying my hard work.
But you know what, Maker Buddy? I almost feel... good about it.
And hey, there was something inside one of those houses. A page from a book.
The clock[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
![]() 1 clock
|
Reward:
|
1 carving tool set (later day)
|
Jeremy wants to move from destroying birdhouses to destroying clocks.
We'll have to try something new.
What else can I destroy? Let's see...
After my birdhouse phase, I moved onto more intricate creations. I started fixing clocks.
So I guess now... It's BREAKTIME!
Get it? Break? Time? Clocks?
...Sorry.
The clock is hidden on the island. After the player finds it and delivers it to Jeremy, he realizes it is not his.
Honestly, after a lifetime of building everything so carefully, I'm quite enjoying all this smashing.
Hmph. Just one problem. This clock isn't one of mine.
See the little 'H' on the base? This is my friend Harold's work.
No sense in destroying someone else's clock. That's not supernatural penance... that's just rude.
I'll just hold on to this.
The player receives a spirit wood and Jeremy's fourth memento as a reward.
A few days later Jeremy wants the player to help other makers on the island and gives them a carving tool set.
There are other makers out there on the island who might need a little help.
There's a talented sculptor in the deep forest... Francesca, I think?
I knew her father back in the day. He lent me his knife once and never took it back.
A maker's only as good as her tools. When Francesca decides to get back to work... give her these.
The carving tool set Jeremy gifts to the player can be given to Francesca during one of her quests.
More clocks[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:

![]() 5 clock

Jeremy asks the player to find more clocks.
No wonder it survived all these years.
Do you think any more of his clocks made it through the centuries?
Five clocks can be found scattered across the island. After the player delivers them, Jeremy realizes the clocks are not Harold's and proceeds to smash them.
Wait. There's no 'H' on the base. These are my clocks...
...that means it's breaktime again!
SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH
Phew. Guess we're clocking out for the day, huh?
Maybe I took her a little too seriously.
Or... are you really annoyed? Sorry if so.
Destroying these projects isn't bringing me much joy anymore.
When the dust settles, it just reminds me that I'm alone.
What happened to the other bears in my life? Why can't I remember them?
The player receives a spirit wood and a simple gear crafting recipe as a reward.
More hearts[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
![]() 5 metal heart
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy thinks there are more of his metal hearts on the island.
When I was alive and ticking, I put my mark on all sorts of projects. Sheds, gazebos, giant grizzly statues...
My customers would always say the same thing... Jeremy, it's Perfect!
I wonder if they were saying that to make me feel better?
I wonder if they felt the same thing I did...
It seemed perfect, all right. But something was always just a little... off.
I'd wager a lot of that work is sunk beneath the waves. Good riddance!
But those metal hearts are still out here, sunk into the ground. I can feel them.
Can't you?
Five metal hearts can be found scattered across the island. After the player delivers the hearts, Jeremy finds a paw print on one of them.
Let's get rid of these hearts now, shall we?
I'll turn them into ingots for you!
One, two, three, four...?
This one has a paw-print drawn on it. So small!
It's... my son's.
I had a family. How could I have forgotten?
The player receives a spirit wood as a reward. This also unlocks Jeremy's fifth memory.
Master dowsing rod[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
20 iron ingot
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy decides it is time to make the player a master dowsing rod.
(Sorry for my language.)
I know there were bears who I cared about. I need a way to remember them.
It's time to build ourselves a Master Dowsing Rod!
Follow my materials list and I'll get us started right away.
Jeremy asks for twenty iron ingots, ten spirit imp essences, and the player's metal dowsing rod. After the player delivers the materials, Jeremy makes them a master dowsing rod.
Under normal circumstances, it would take me two weeks at least.
But ghost-craft exists outside the normal constraints of space and time.
CLANG
Done!
Now you should be able to find even better memories.
And I can continue the search for some memories of my own.
A family picture[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
![]() 1 Gruffle family photograph
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy wants to see his family again.
I can almost hear his laugh and the feel of the fabric of her favorite yellow blouse.
But there are still details that are blurred, or missing.
I just wish I could see them again...
The Gruffle family photograph can be received from Arjun Bhalla for completing one of his story quests. After the player delivers it to Jeremy, he remembers his son.
And now I remember. My little cub, he loved my inventions.
I wanted to build something special for him... so I mixed my love of birdhouses and clockwork.
I started working on a cuckoo clock for his room.
Jeremy gives the player a spirit wood as a reward. Completing this quest also unlocks Jeremy's sixth memory and comic.
Hunt for materials[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
25 silver ingot
|
50 iron ingot
|
50 hardwood
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy wants the player to gather the materials for another cuckoo clock.
But what if it was because of something I hadn't made after all?
I have a feeling that I never completed that cuckoo clock for my son.
It's time for one last Maker project!
Could you help me gather the materials, Maker Buddy?
Jeremy needs twenty five silver ingots, fifty iron ingots, and fifty hardwood. After the player delivers the materials, Jeremy is excited to start working.
I have to tell you, Maker Buddy... I feel revitalized.
Finally, I'm on the right track. Building something again.
Something for someone I care about.
The player receives a spirit wood as a reward.
Ornate gears[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy is having a problem with his cuckoo clock project.
Clockwork is tricky, you see. It requires special gears.
And unfortunately, they need to be built by human hands.
I'll share the recipe with you, and add a few more finishing pieces I'll need to the list.
Thanks for all your help, Maker Buddy... this is going to be our best work ever!
Jeremy gives the player the recipe for crafting ornate gears. The gear can be crafted using two gold ingots, one joyous imp essence, and one simple gear. The recipe for simple gear is received from Jeremy for one of his earlier quests and requires ten silver ingots, one happy imp essence, and fifteen relic ashes.
When the player delivers the ornate gear to Jeremy, he gives the player a spirit wood.
You know what? I think you're haunted, Maker Buddy...
Haunted by the DIY Spirit!
Ha! Ha! Ha?
...
Sorry, Maker Buddy. Someday, I'll learn to craft a decent joke.
Several days later Jeremy tells the player he is having trouble with the clock.
Most of my inventions have come together in the blink of an eye!
But it's taking quite a while to get this Cuckoo Clock right...
Sorry if my personal storm-cloud's casting a shadow on your picnic, so to speak.
So what's stuck in my mind that's preventing me from building this clock?
I suppose I'd better do what I always do...
Put my head down and just keep my snout in my work until I manage to get it done.
When the player speaks with Jeremy several days later, he tells them he finally remembered what was wrong with the clock.
I did finish the clock. It was colorful and wild, just right for an innocent cub without a care in the world.
I gave it to my son. He smiled and said 'It's a little silly, don't you think, Daddy?
Silly? He thought I was silly??
I always strove for perfection, to blend right into my environment without causing a fuss...
...how could he see me that way?
Suddenly, I hated that cuckoo clock.
And so...
I thought he'd be happier without that silly thing.
But I was wrong. I broke his heart. My poor cub. He cried for hours and hours.
And now, this clock is broken too.
I don't know what it will take to fix it.
The conversation unlocks Jeremy's seventh memory.
Broken hearts[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to seek out the metal hearts that would not melt.
Did you know that some of them wouldn't melt?
Those ones, I broke.
I wonder what happened to the pieces?
Five broken metal hearts are hidden on the island. Once the player collects them and brings them back to Jeremy, he gives the player a spirit wood and asks if he can share his secret.
I don't know what I'll do with these yet, but it's good to see them again.
Maker Buddy... can I tell you something I've never told anyone?
It's a little silly.
That's my issue, not yours.
(How could you even think of something so horrible?)
It's just a little personal, that's all.
I've always wanted to make jewelry.
I know, I know... it's so impractical. So gaudy. It stands out.
But still, for some reason I keep thinking about it.
Ah, look at this. There's a little space in the middle of these broken hearts!
Just enough space, maybe... for something that sparkles?
Gem dust[]
Jeremy Gruffle needs:
|
1 gem dust
|
Reward:
|
Jeremy asks the player to help him with his last DIY project.
There's just enough space inside each one... for a gem.
Will you work with me on one last D.I.Y. project?
Here are those heart pieces I found.
But I'm at a loss. I don't know how to make something from these pieces.
They need something special... something to make them sparkle...
Well, Maker Buddy... I'd be more than happy to craft with you again.
The gem dust Jeremy needs can be obtained from Ursula Pine as a reward for completing one of her story quests. Once the player brings it to Jeremy, he gives them a spirit wood.
They're gorgeous, aren't they?
You know, I've been tinkering with that smashed cuckoo clock.
I can almost fit it back together. But there are a few gaps.
Now, usually if I can't join pieces in a clean way, I'll remeasure and start again.
But in this case, these spaces might be just the right size...
... for something special.
Several days later Jeremy is ready to tell the player how he died.
But while I've been working, it's come back to me...
I've remembered how I died.
I don't know if you want to hear about something like that...
It's up to you.
I was an old bear when it happened.
My wife had passed on, my son lived nearby. He visited occasionally. We munched on biscuits together and didn't say much.
But I had taken to crafting things again, secretly... birdhouses with big, swooping roofs. Very unorthodox.
Once in a while, I'd look down at my wrinkled paws, cutting bold shapes in the wood...
And I'd laugh out loud in my empty house.
I wondered... what would Harold say?
It was a cold day when I finally decided to hang one of those birdhouses up.
I put it on a tree right outside my house. Right outside!
And then I heard a neighbor's door opening.
I ran up the stairs. The icy stairs.
My legs swept out from under me.
And as I was falling all I could think about was how foolish I must look, legs up, falling down...
...how sorry I was to make a scene like that, for a neighbor to see.
I was sorry, in the last conscious moments of my life.
And for what? What was I sorry for?
Thanks for listening, Maker Buddy.
I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable, asking that.
But I'm... I'm not sorry for asking.
Sometimes, it's important. Not to be sorry.
Several days later Jeremy tells the player he has finished the clock.
Look at it.
Not your typical cuckoo clock, is it?
I don't know if the neighbors would care for it, to be honest.
But I do.
The last birdhouse[]

Jeremy asks the player to bring him one more birdhouse.
Will I stay on this island, light as air and glowing electric blue, until the world ends?
There are worse things, I suppose.
But maybe we missed something in our search-and-destroy mission...
I have a feeling there's one more birdhouse left out there.
Could you bring it to me?
I promise, I won't break it this time.
The beautiful birdhouse is a quest item the player can obtain by completing quests for other bears. Once the player delivers the birdhouse to Jeremy, he rewards them with a spirit wood.
See, there? That metal heart set into the wood.
That heart has an 'H' etched into it... and a little 'J' besides.
We worked on this birdhouse together, Harold and I.
I think he'd want me to keep it.
This conversation unlocks Jeremy's eighth and final memory and the attached comic. Jeremy ascends and turns golden, his area will stay permanently lit and colored. Jeremy will no longer give the player story quests; however, he will still occasionally give the player daily quests.
