Cozy Grove Wiki

This Style Guide is the set of guidelines for producing articles with consistency, professionalism, and organization on Cozy Grove Wiki. All articles are subjected to the style guide; articles not up to the standards will be revised to meet such standards.

Defer to in-game stylistic choices when they conflict with the rules below. Some specific exceptions have been noted below, but they may not cover all possibilities.

Language

The typical language of Cozy Grove wiki is modern American English. A somewhat informal – cozy, if you will – voice is acceptable, given the game, but all spelling and grammatical choices should be in line with standard American English.

Contractions must be written formally.

Perspective

The point of view of Cozy Grove wiki is a neutral third-person. First-person and second-person perspective should be avoided, unless when directly citing the in-game text (e.g., flavor text or quest dialogue).

  • Instead of you, refer to the player.

Capitalization

Use sentence case capitalization. That is, only capitalize the first word and proper nouns in a sentence or title. Non-proper nouns need to be lowercased. Proper nouns or the first letter of a sentence need to be capitalized.

Article Bodies

Punctuation

Use Oxford/serial comma.

  • Some in-game flavor text uses the serial comma and some does not. Copy flavor text as written.

Numbers

Use numerals for days. (Day 1, Day 25).

In explanatory text, use the full word for numbers from zero to nine. (four days, seven items).

In tables, always use numerals. (2 Quartz Gemstones, 25 Spirit Deer Essence).

Commas should be used in numbers above 999. (15,000)

Icons

Instead of words for currencies (old coins, quartz gemstone), use icon images. When a currency icon image is used, do not also include the words.

For crafting materials, use both in the order icon numeral words. ([Icon] 5 Hardwood)

Files

Files are images, videos, or audio that help readers visualize the subject better.

File names should be clear, appropriate, and named properly. If you cannot find an image through the search, then the file name is not appropriate. Name the file in a way it is relevant, clear, and can be easily searched in the wiki.

Capitalization rules generally apply to files as well.

Media Licenses

  1. All files uploaded to the wiki must have a license. Files from the game are copyrighted to SpryFox and should use the SpryFox license template in their description (first choice in the license menu). Unlicensed files will be deleted.
  2. All files used in wiki articles must be pertaining to the game. Files used on personal pages can be off-topic but must follow our general rules regarding content (no inappropriate or offensive content). Files which do not will be deleted.
